Gary Kaufman is a United States Tax Attorney with over 25 years experience in domestic and international strategic tax planning. Gary is well known in the international tax community and is founder of a global tax practice. His focus is reducing the worldwide effective tax rate of domestic and multinational corporations and of high net worth individuals by the design of proactive tax planning strategies. The impact of these strategies is to reduce the tax cost of doing business overseas and in the United States.

Prior to private practice, Gary was Senior Tax Counsel to several U.S.-based multinational corporations and worked directly with senior management in all areas of worldwide income taxation. In one instance, he initiated and implemented a comprehensive debt restructuring plan for global operations of a leading manufacturing corporation to create substantial annual tax savings. Also, he advised on formation of Netherlands finance and IP holding entities to maximize tax efficiency in cross border licensing. As Tax Counsel, Gary collaborated with senior business and finance executives at two of the world's most widely recognized media and entertainment corporations to create tax efficiencies and cost savings with respect to IP exploitation, joint ventures, corporate acquisitions and restructurings. Additionally, he was responsible for the development of a global tax structure for broadcast coverage of three overseas Olympic Games, winning approval of local Ministries of Finance, thereby achieving significant annual tax savings.

In his current practice, Gary advises on cross border transaction tax planning for both overseas-based companies and individuals doing business and investing in the United States, and for U.S.-based companies and individuals doing business and investing abroad.

Gary is a member of the Tax Sections of the American Bar Association and of the New York State Bar Association and its Foreign Activities of U.S. Taxpayers Committee.
